This past week was filled with so many events that I am still exhausted writing this. It started last Tuesday with the 5th annual Hotspots Holiday Celebration. This year the event was moved to the beautiful Museum of Discovery and Science and hundreds of people attended with nothing but rave reviews! Catch a special sneak peak of the pics in this week’s issue and then the entire photo spread in n next week’s edition. On Wednesday was the 3rd annual Toy Story benefit produced by Marc Silverstone of Equilibrium events and held at the Manor. Once again this was a huge success. Thursday was the 2nd annual Giving Back to Broward Winter Charity Event produced by Law offices of George Castrataro and Lyons, Snyder and Collin at Market 17. This year the event was a benefit for the United Way of Broward County. Congrats to all on another successful event. On Friday, Men’s Night Out at Bootleggers presented their 2nd annual toy drive for Kids In Distress where everyone brought an unwrapped toy or gift card and all had fun. Saturday was a big day around town as Rosie’s celebrated their 10th anniversary, Manor celebrated their 3rd anniversary and Discotekka celebrated the 60th birthday of Milancita. As once can imagine, after all these events Sunday was the day of rest for me!

Compass Community Center in West Palm Beach presents the exhibit Nazi Persecution of Homosexuals 1933-1945. This exhibition is produced by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and is open for a limited time (until January 25) - don’t miss your chance to see it. Between 1933 and 1945, the Nazi German regime promoted racial health policies that sought to eliminate all sources of biological corruption to its dominant "Aryan" race. Among the groups persecuted as threats to the national health were Germany’s homosexual men. Believing them to be carriers of a "degeneracy" that weakened society and hindered population growth, the Nazi state arrested and incarcerated in prisons and concentration camps tens of thousands of German men as a means of terrorizing them into social conformity. Unfortunately this left thousands dead and shattered the lives of many more. CompassGLCC.com.

John Varvatos Enterprises is pleased to add its third John Varvatos Bowery NYC concept store in South Beach. Inspired by the authentic vibe of the original Bowery boutique (housed in a space that once was the home of seminal underground music club CBGB’s), the new Bowery NYC is a subtle and sophisticated counterpoint to the standard glitz of South Beach. Like the New York Bowery space, the 2200 square-foot South Beach boutique is a venue where fashion and music can live together. Since John Varvatos’ early days in Detroit, his exposure to the unique and edgy personal style of rock icons from Alice Cooper to The Who inspired the designer and influenced the evolution of his eclectic sensibility. The Bowery NYC concept is close to Varvatos’ heart and represents an opportunity to fully express his personal passions. "I have been looking for a location in Miami for my Bowery NYC concept for several years and we have finally found the perfect spot on Lincoln Road. Miami is a wonderful community with a great fashion spirit. That coupled with it being a travel hub/gateway to Western Europe and South America makes it a perfect fit. The John Varvatos brand is unquestionably American, yet embodies a global modern sophistication," said Varvatos. The new store will offer all three John Varvatos brands (Collection, Star USA and Converse by John Varvatos) with a focus on Holiday/Resort 2012 and Spring 2013 sportswear leather and canvas footwear, accessories and leather goods. The product assortment will be edited to reflect the best of the best, with a slight rock n’roll edge.

John Varvatos South Beach will be opening any day and its address is 1020 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, FL 33139; Store Phone Number: (305) 674-7917; Hours: 11:00AM - 10:00PM Daily. For more information go to JohnVarvatos.com.
