Three moms, blondes all. Very funny.
Three moms, blondes all. Very funny.

The new Queens of Comedy might be coming to your town. That is, if they can fit a tour schedule in between PTA meetings and driving the kids to soccer practice. That’s right, they’re moms and they cleaned up (not literally) during their stop at the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts with a hilarious, side-splitting performance. Three Blonde Moms is a stand-up comedy show that features three very different women who offer their own takes on everything from how children say the darndest things to sex (or a current lack thereof).

The first of the moms, Cathy Ladman (substituting this night for Helen Keaney), has been featured on shows such as ABC’s "Brothers & Sisters" and "Everybody Loves Raymond." Cathy kicked off the show on a high with her razor-sharp comic timing and hilarious views on marriage. Her acerbic New York humor gave way to hilarious anecdotes, including how the entire basis of heterosexual relationships is how one body part fits into another, comparing it to the foundation of Lego blocks. Joanie Fagin’s high-strung perkiness injected the show with an energy that brought even more laughs, including how she plays up being a great mom for the social worker who lives next door. The last comic, Beaumont Bacon, a rambunctious Texan with a gift for physical comedy, delivered riotous gag after gag, like a how-to on trying on modern lingerie, all while wearing an apron. If these moms can’t do it all, I don’t know who can.

In a male-dominated world of stand-up, "Three Blonde Moms" is inspired and fresh, offering three comedic voices who haven’t been heard enough and are ready for their own sitcom. The audience, made up entirely of moms and daughters, laughed the entire show. One woman seated behind me nearly choked from laughing so hard, a true compliment to any comedian. "Three Blonde Moms" is perfect for a girl’s night out. The occasional boy might find himself choking with laughter as well. The jokes kept coming even after the show was over as $3 off coupons to "Menopause: The Musical" were handed out at the exit. That should provide ripe material for their next show.
